Meet our Cattle

Two black calves standing in a green grassy field under a blue sky, next to a black water trough.

In 2023, Grit-n-Grace Farms began our cattle journey with Angus crosses—one cow/calf pair and a bred cow—before adding efficient Lowline Angus for premium grass-fed beef and charming Belted Galloways for their adorable offspring. Raised on our pastures our herd thrives under sustainable, family-driven care, with our kids helping daily and exploring 4-H show potential.

We use Artificial Insemination as our predominant breeding method which allows us to be very selective in our breeding process to produce top quality calves. We have two Lowline Angus cross cows due this fall and are currently breeding two more for spring 2026 calves.

This year we were presented with the opportunity to purchase two Belted Galloway cows. This allowed us to branch into breeding adorable miniature cattle. We are hoping to have a miniature calf due in spring 2026.

We’re excited to offer high-quality beef and miniature calves to local farmers and homesteaders.

Angus Cross - Lowline Angus

  • A black cow standing on green grass in a pasture with trees in the background.

    Big Momma

Big Momma is one of our original cows. She was purchased with her calf, Penelope by her side. She is a great mama but can be overly protective. She is also our largest cow on the farm, towering over our other lowline angus crosses. Big Momma is due to calve this fall.

  • A black calf resting on dry grass with two calves lying in the background, one black and brown, and the other dark brown, near a tree.

    Penelope

Penelope, aka Pen is the daughter of Big Momma and one of my favorites. She is incredibly sweet and loves to say hi when you are out in the field. This is her first breeding season and while we typically prefer A.I to breed we currently have her with a bull and if all goes well, we should expect a spring 2026 calf.

  • A black and white calf lying on dry grass in a field, with a haystack behind it.

    Moonstar

Moonstar is one of our first lowline Angus crosses to be bought. She is a proven mama and had her calf, Ghostina with us in 2024. As a mama she leaves a little to be desired as she will gladly leave her calf for food. She is probably our most vocal cow and is due to calve this fall.

  • A cow with a white face and brown body standing in a grassy field, with a second black and white cow in the background.

    Rexy

Rexy aka Red is one of our first lowline angus cross cows. She is a proven mama and had her calf, Hank here at the farm in 2024. Unlike Moonstar she is an excellent mama and always ensured that her calf was cared for. She is being bred for a spring 2026 calf.

  • A small black and brown cow standing next to a white wooden fence on a grassy field.

    Ghostina

Ghostina is one of our first lowline angus calves to be born on the farm. She is also the tiniest of our bunch. The kids named her Ghostina because she was born on Halloween. She will hopefully become one of our herd mommas in the future.

  • A young black calf in a green pasture with white fencing in the background.

    Hank

Hank was our second lowline angus calf to be born on our farm. He is notoriously known for getting himself into trouble and will gladly let you know when the electric fence is not working. He loves his back scratches and is very friendly. He is destined for the freezer but until then he will enjoy life on the farm.

Belted Galloways

  • A black and white calf lying on a grassy field with a clear blue sky and leafless trees in the background.

    Cindy Lou

Cindy Lou and her daughter Strawberry are new to the farm in 2025. Cindy is extremely friendly and loves her head scratches. We are currently breeding her via A.I to a miniature brindle bull and are hoping to have an adorable brindle calf in spring 2026.

  • A small black and white calf standing in a grassy field next to a white wooden fence, with a tree and open sky in the background.

    Strawberry

Strawberry is a little more flighty then her momma and is slowing get used to the kids and I. We are hoping to breed her next year to a miniature bull for a spring 2027 calf.
